  • It’s great to be able to entertain your children for free in the summer time, so this list of events really is brilliant to read, thank you very much. A lot of parents worry about having enough to entertain their children with in the summer holidays, but thanks to events like this, we can be sure that they will have plenty to do which means that they will have a summer holiday to remember!

  • There are many such free or inexpensive events in most countries I imagine. We have plenty here in France (where I live) and in the UK (where I was born). I was in the US one Memorial Day, it was over 32 years ago because I was still childless … and I loved the upbeat and celebratory atmosphere. Of course, there are sombre, more respectful moments during the day.

These are great events for quality family-time and opportunities for children to absorb some of their cultural heritage in a fun way and without ramming it down their throats.

As an active motorcyclist, with no small children to keep my eye on, the Rolling Thunder Run would be my first choice next time I’m in the States on Memorial Day.
