  • It can be annoying when you the flu in the summer, because it is the time of year where you would much rather be enjoying the weather rather than having to stay in bed. I think that hand washing is the most important thing that you can do, because it really does keep things clean and tidy and can stop you from picking up the germs that other people are passing around. That is by far the best tip, as just taking the time to wash your hands can make an incredible difference.

  • I feel bad for anyone who falls ill in spring/summer, it’s just awful! I’m convinced part of the reason I caught the flu this past spring was because I’d been a bit careless about my diet, so I think that’s a highly important tip which people tend to overlook. And of course, the other tips are full of great advice as well. I love ginger tea, it’s a great preventive measure and if I do fall ill, it really does make me feel a little more human.

  • I will reiterate DancingLady, you can do a lot of prevention of illness with wise choices, we should not wait for illness to strike, we need to prevent it (preventative medicine) which is not exactly taught to medical students these days. Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables with lots of Vitamin C and antioxidants work wonders when it comes to colds, coughs and the dreaded flu. As a health professional, I eat plenty of onions, the phytochemicals boost immunity in tremendous ways. I found that when the body’s immunity levels are low, that is when people fall ill from every bug that passes by. The body’s defenses are strengthened with the presence of good level of Vitamin C and plenty of phytochemicals
