  • How true THIS is. One of my favorite mentors says,”If you can’t afford it, you don’t need it.”
It’s all well and good to buy things if you can afford them, but if you can’t, it’s best to refrain from buying.
Sometimes it feels like a challenge to walk away from a purchase, but in the long run, it pays to save your money if you really don’t have it to spend. No need in trying to keep up with “the Joneses”.

    • Also works in reverse: “If you don’t need it, you can’t afford it!” because sometimes we are under the illusion that we could afford it.
The quote is very true still — there might be a chance that you could resell the item you bought, but it’ll probably have lost value and you lose money either way.

  • This is the honest truth. If you make too many over indulgent purchases — you will find yourself unable to make ends meet and you will have to resort to selling those items and those that you actually need in order to pay bills. Always use your money wisely – and if there is something you really want – save for it so that you do not put yourself in financial hardship.

  • And if you end up having to sell things to pay bills, you will find how little people are willing to pay for these things and how much you end up having to sell to make one bill you thought wasn’t even that much before.

    • This is definitely true. Granted, when I sell things, it’s usually after I already bought the replacement item but I’m stunned about how quickly things lose value. If you have time, you can sell them for a bit more but when you need cash, often you’re stuck taking what you can get just then. Very frustrating and NOT a wise strategy.

On the other hand, if you wait until May or so and watch craigslist, lots of people are selling nice stuff cheap because they blew their income tax return on it and now need cash for bills.

  • That is absolutely true. If we buy useless things, one after another al ot of the money that we actually need to spend on things we need will no longer be there. Spend your money wisely people because one day, you might really need something, but if you keep buying useless unneeded things, you won’t be able to find that money.
