Amazon Prime Big Deal Days 2026 runs October 6–7. It starts at 12:01 a.m. PDT on the 6th and lasts a full 48 hours. Amazon announced the dates on September 11, and the deal prices are for Prime members only, so you’ll need a membership or a free trial to get them.
Amazon’s early deals are already live on its devices, Kindle, Amazon Haul and Amazon Music, but it hasn’t shared prices for the rest of the event yet. What it has shared are its Halloween and grocery deals, the times new deals go live each day, and a few Alexa tools that help you tell a good price from an average one. I’ve put all of that together here, with notes on what I’d buy during the event and what I’d hold off on. Target is running a sale on the same days and Walmart’s deals start a day earlier, on October 5; you’ll find the details further down.
💡Good to know: Prime costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year, and new members can start a 30-day free trial. If you sign up a few days before October 6, the trial covers both days of the event, and you can cancel before it bills if the deals aren’t worth it to you. Found a deal we missed? Send it our way.
When Is Prime Big Deal Days 2026?
The sale runs October 6 and 7. Two times are worth putting in your calendar:
- October 6, 12:01 a.m. PDT: Prime Big Deal Days opens. On the East Coast, that’s 3:01 a.m.
- Midnight, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. PDT on both days: New deals go live in Amazon’s Today’s Big Deals section.
Since new deals keep appearing on both days, it’s worth checking back more than once. Something that isn’t there in the morning might show up at 1 p.m. Pacific (4 p.m. Eastern), so a second look later in the day is worth it.
Tech, Electronics and Apple Deals
Amazon says the event covers more than 35 categories, with new deals added to Today’s Big Deals three times a day. Its early deals, live now, cover Amazon devices and Kindle, but it hasn’t published other tech or Apple prices yet. Until then, here’s how I’d get ready so you’re not scrolling through listings at 3 a.m.
- Make a short list now. Pick the few items you actually want, whether that’s a TV, a laptop or new headphones, and focus on those when the deals open.
- Check the price history before you buy. Alexa can now show you what a product has cost over the last 365 days. If a “Prime Big Deal” price sits well above the lowest price of the past year, the discount isn’t as good as it looks.
- Set an alert instead of refreshing. Alexa can send you a price alert and even buy the item for you when it drops to the price you picked. With three deal drops a day, that saves a lot of checking.
- Look again at the afternoon drop. Deals go live at midnight, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. PDT on both days, so a laptop that isn’t discounted at breakfast may be by mid-afternoon.
- Double-check older Apple models. If a newer version is out, look at the 365-day history to see what the previous model has actually been selling for.
Grocery Deals
Grocery is the one category where Amazon has already shared real prices. Discounts go up to 75% off, and the examples Amazon published include salami for $3, hummus for $1 and avocados at $0.33 each.
Stocking up makes the most sense for things you’d buy anyway, like pantry staples and household basics that keep for months. Fresh food is different, since cheap avocados are only a bargain if you’ll eat them that week. Amazon hasn’t shared home and kitchen prices yet.
Halloween Deals
Halloween is less than four weeks after the event, so Prime Big Deal Days is a good moment to get costumes sorted. Amazon has set up a dedicated Halloween section with more than 100 deals, including costumes starting at $5 and candy under $10.
If your kids already know what they want to be, the event is an easy time to order the costume and cross it off your list. For costume and décor deals beyond Amazon, see our Halloween sales roundup.
Competing Sales: Target and Walmart
Target is holding its own sale on exactly the same two days. If you don’t have Prime, it’s the easiest alternative, because Target Circle is free to join.
Target Circle Deal Days runs October 6–7 and is open to all Target Circle members, while paid Target Circle 360 members get in early, on October 5. Target is advertising up to 40% off thousands of items across apparel, home and seasonal décor, beauty, toys, tech and kitchen, with Vera Bradley at up to 65% off.
If you’re new to Target, two sign-up offers work alongside the sale:
- 15% off your first order: for new Target Circle members who join between September 27 and October 5, so you’d need to sign up before the sale starts.
- $75 reward: for new Target Circle Card approvals between September 27 and October 10.
Walmart has its own sale coming too. Its Fall Deals page says deals drop on October 5 at 12 a.m. ET, a day before Prime Big Deal Days starts.
What to Buy and What to Skip
✅ Worth buying now
- Halloween costumes. Amazon’s costumes start at $5, and buying them in early October gets one thing off your list before Halloween.
- Pantry staples. Amazon’s grocery deals go up to 75% off, and shelf-stable items keep for months, so buying ahead makes sense.
- Anything on your list that hits its 365-day low. If the price history shows the event price is the lowest of the past year, you don’t gain much by waiting.
⏳ Better to wait on
- Big-ticket tech that isn’t near its yearly low. If the Prime Big Deal Days price is well above the 365-day low, you can hold off and compare prices again later in the season.
- A full year of Prime, if you only want it for this event. The 30-day free trial covers both days, and you won’t have to pay $139 up front.
